Thank you Partnership for Parks!

Check it out!  Singing Winds is featured in this Partnership for Parks video!

We want to express our gratitude to Partnership for Parks, for supporting Singing Winds’ activities and festivals in Albemarle Playground since 2013.

The resources you offer are invaluable for community groups with a vision for their local park.

On behalf of all the children and families who love Albemarle Playground, thank you! We pledge to care for this public space with dedication and joy!

Singing Winds, Inc.

The Singing Winds:  Storytelling from Around the World project is now incorporated as a not-for-profit organization!

The initial Board of Directors will be Nadine Myers-Guilloteau, Parent Coordinator at PS 230 serving as President; Jacqueline Reinier, Singing Winds Project Director serving as Treasurer; and Cynthia Fortozo, Cultural Advisor and Teaching Artist serving as Secretary.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Singing Winds since its inception in 2011.  We are so excited to enter this new chapter of our story!

Thank you, State Farm YSA!

We are proud to announce that the Singing Winds at PS 230 – Storytelling and Literacy Project has received a State Farm Good Neighbor Student Achievement Grant.  5th grade teacher Robyn Waters will be conducting an oral history project with her students to investigate the expectations and experience of public education in a multilingual immigrant community.  Students will seek out stories about school in other places and other times, and create a video documentary reflecting their investigation.  Along with the video, students will create a presentation, “Preparing to Learn,” to promote storytelling and reading aloud with preschool children as an important practice to develop readiness for school.

Thank you, State Farm YSA!
