We are proud to announce that the Singing Winds at PS 230 – Storytelling and Literacy Project has received a State Farm Good Neighbor Student Achievement Grant. 5th grade teacher Robyn Waters will be conducting an oral history project with her students to investigate the expectations and experience of public education in a multilingual immigrant community. Students will seek out stories about school in other places and other times, and create a video documentary reflecting their investigation. Along with the video, students will create a presentation, “Preparing to Learn,” to promote storytelling and reading aloud with preschool children as an important practice to develop readiness for school.
Thank you, State Farm YSA!
